Master´s Thesis – Keyless entry for Bosch eBikes

Robert Bosch AB | Sweden | Lund | | Functional Area: Engineering, Software Development | As soon as possible

Welcome to a world, where your ideas lead to something big. Welcome to Bosch.

Do you want beneficial technologies being shaped by your ideas? Whether in the areas of mobility solutions, consumer goods, industrial technology or energy and building technology – with us, you will have the chance to improve quality of life all across the globe. In Lund we develop product for automotive, ebike and IoT, Lund is a new software center within Bosch and we are around 130 engineers working with different products for tomorrows automotive. Welcome to Bosch!

At a glance

Your contribution to something big

The eBikes team in Lund is researching and developing displays, onboard computers, components, software and apps for electrified, automated and connected bikes. One of the top priorities is usability and security of the bike system. It is desired that customers can use their eBike just like they would use a standard bike - without any lead times. Therefore, we are now looking at passive proximity algorithms to support keyless entry. Keyless entry will enable the user to have an eBike ready for riding without delays when unlocking and starting up the bike system.

In order to be successful in the project with think you are:

• A student in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Math or Physics.

• Interested in algorithm development and have some signal processing experience with machine learning knowledge.

• Experienced with or have at least some knowledge of programming in Matlab, Python, C++ or similar.

• Self-driven, able to challenge yourself, and gain the experience needed to move the project forward.

• A person with team spirit, social skills and a curiosity for exploring new technology areas.

• Proficient in English.

Goal

We propose the following topics to be covered in the thesis:

• Research and find suitable algorithms for proximity sensing using state of the art techniques such as machine learning and analytical methods for time series data.

• Use data and features of Bluetooth Low Energy for proximity sensing and distance estimation.

• Evaluate the effect of different mounting positions for the antennas.

• Conduct field testing to evaluate and verify the algorithms in different real world scenarios.

You will of course have the opportunity to shape the thesis based on your knowledge, skills and discoveries during the project.

Your future job location offers you

Flexible worktime options, benefits and services, medical services, employee discounts, various sports and health opportunities, on-site parking, catering facilities, access to local public transport, room for creativity, urban infrastructures, rural surroundings.
